Jeff Reed
The combination of reading the National Review, listening to talk radio, and numerous family dinner conversations led to Jeff naturally forming an enthusiasm for free markets.
While a part of the Koch Associate Program, Jeff worked for the American Legislative Exchange Council as a public affairs coordinator. In that role, he contributed to the launch of a new website, updated various publications, and served as senior editor on staff. Jeff stayed at ALEC after the program ended, but in an exciting new role as the director of the Education Task Force.
In February 2010, Jeff moved to Indianapolis to join the Foundation for Educational Choice as state program and government relations director. In this role, Jeff helps coordinate the Foundation for Educational Choice's efforts to prepare target states for the introduction of school choice.
Jeff credits the Koch Associate Program with providing him with the opportunity to solidify his free-market passions while learning management skills and recognizing how his behavior, especially as a manager, affects others.
He says, “Market Based Management® is all about empowering---not micro-managing---employees so that their ideas can improve an organization's structure and goals. Because my role at the Foundation for Educational Choice is coalition building, this concept is at the very heart of what I do: Empower local partners, welcome their knowledge and ideas, measure their progress, and work together toward achieving Milton Friedman's vision of universal school choice."
When not reforming the education system, Jeff enjoys playing basketball and a good game of pool.
