How Associates are Selected

The Koch Associate Program is highly competitive and selects only the most promising candidates. The Foundation looks for the following attributes in a potential Associate:

  • Zero to ten years of work experience
  • Solid academic record
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Solid understanding of and commitment to classical liberal ideals, market principles, and the advancement of liberty
  • Demonstrated evidence of leadership ability or entrepreneurial behavior
  • Strong interest in a non-profit sector career
  • Humility, integrity, passion, motivation, and a self-starter attitude

The Koch Associate Program is a full-time, year-long program, so applicants who are only available part-time cannot be considered. Candidates who meet the above criteria are invited to apply.

Candidates who apply for the Koch Associate Program are carefully evaluated based on their application materials. Those chosen as finalists undergo multiple interviews with Foundation and non-profit organization staff members and may be asked for references or additional materials.

Associates selected to participate in the Program are carefully matched with non-profit opportunities based on their skills and preferences, as well as the position requirements. Applicants are asked during the interview process for their preference in non-profit assignments, but are not guaranteed those positions.
